Terry J Dougherty of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Plainville, IN on January 15, 1940 to Norwood (Woody) and Joyce (Killion) Dougherty. Terry graduated from Plainville High School in 1958 and moved to Lincoln, IL where he attended Lincoln Bible College for three years.
He moved to Louisville, KY and worked in a Zayre Dept. Store. He met his wife, Doris in Louisville and they moved to Bloomington, IN. when he got a job at Otis Elevator Co. He retired from Otis, but not...

Terry J Dougherty of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Plainville, IN on January 15, 1940 to Norwood (Woody) and Joyce (Killion) Dougherty. Terry graduated from Plainville High School in 1958 and moved to Lincoln, IL where he attended Lincoln Bible College for three years.
He moved to Louisville, KY and worked in a Zayre Dept. Store. He met his wife, Doris in Louisville and they moved to Bloomington, IN. when he got a job at Otis Elevator Co. He retired from Otis, but not from work. Terry worked for Columbia House and then for Cook Medical Inc.
Because of health problems, Terry retired from Cook Medical on August 12, 2015 at the age of 75. Working was his hobby. He also loved having lots of flower beds, planters on his porch, and his pond with coy fish.
Terry and Doris were married in May 1964 where they have three children; Dawn Gooch (Brad), Tracy Harrison, and Matthew Dougherty (Lisa) all of the Bloomington area; eight grandchildren: Nicole (Kenny), Stephanie (Scott), Derrick (Bethany), Christopher (Ashli), Shardea, Jasmine, Zachary and Jesse, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, one sister, Rita Harbin of Florida and several cousins.
He also has many family members from his wife's family who he has considered close family members.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents both in 2006 and a brother Jack D. Dougherty in 1974.
He was of the Christian faith and attended Stoneybrook Community Church of God.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 30th at the Stoneybrook Community Church. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 31st at the church. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society or to I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice.
