Carol Jean Dooley, age 82, of Bloomington, Indiana; passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Carol was born on March 18, 1935 in St. Louis Missouri and was the daughter of Rodney and Beulah Tarpy. She graduated from Manual High School, Peoria, Illinois. Carol married Ronald R. Dooley April 23, 1955 in Peoria Illinois. Prior to moving to Bloomington, Indiana in 2000 they lived in East Peoria, Illinois.

Carol Jean Dooley, age 82, of Bloomington, Indiana; passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Carol was born on March 18, 1935 in St. Louis Missouri and was the daughter of Rodney and Beulah Tarpy. She graduated from Manual High School, Peoria, Illinois. Carol married Ronald R. Dooley April 23, 1955 in Peoria Illinois. Prior to moving to Bloomington, Indiana in 2000 they lived in East Peoria, Illinois.
Along with raising her children, Carol worked at the Fondulac Park District in East Peoria for sixteen years. While at the Park District, Carol started Vagabound Tours, organizing tours that grew to include trips throughout the United States and Eastern Canada. During this time she made many lifelong friends that she still kept in touch with. While living in East Peoria, she and her family were members of the Free Methodist Church.
When Carol and her husband moved to Bloomington, they became members of the Free Methodist Church and currently members of The First Church of the Nazarene.
Carol enjoyed sewing, quilting and working on crafts with her husband. She made many beautiful quilts for her family. She was a member of several quilting groups in East Peoria and Bloomington. She was also an active member with the Red Hats and Home Extension, which she was active for over 31 years, both in East Peoria and Bloomington.
Along with her parents, one brother, Tom Tarpy and sister-in-law Ellen Tarpy, preceded Carol in death.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald R. Dooley, three children, son Ronald R. Dooley, Jr and wife Mary of Bloomington, Indiana, two daughters, Crystal Fulton and husband John of St. Agtha, Maine and DeeAnn Sparks and husband Paul of Bloomington, Indiana, one grandson, Joshua Sparks and wife Sara of Bloomington, Indiana, one great grandson, Finley Sparks, sister-in-law Phyllis Reeder of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 West Gourley Pike, Bloomington, IN from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Funeral services will be at The First Church of the Nazarene on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Chambersville Cemetery.
